Spencer Robinson spent years playing in the legendary Los Angeles garage band The Lords of Altamont, playing with incredible bands like The Who, X, and The Cramps, just to name a few. Their explosive live shows left audiences in ruins.
His new band, The Wolf Spiders, includes founding member of The Lords of Altamont Johnny DeVilla, who also played in The Bomboras, Tom Hernandez from The Superbees, and Piper Ingram from The Honeymoon Screams and Kissy Suzuki. They set out to tell stories about some of the darker things in life. These are tales of broken people and broken places, loneliness & survival, sadness & acceptance.
The Wolf Spiders released their debut EP Standing at the End of the World on Welsh label Solid 7 Records to great reviews. The follow up album Beneath The Surface came out at the end of 2017 to an overwhelmingly positive response from journalists, with comparisons made to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Cramps, The Birthday Party, and Tom Waits. Spencer Robinson and the Wolf Spiders is music for drinking, crying, driving, and dying.
Back in December, they were guests on legendary music journalist Lina Lecaro’s (LA Weekly and more) radio show. While on the show, they played a short acoustic set that ended up being really unique and they decided to release the songs as a free digital EP.
