Most recently known as Canada's #1 harmonica player of the year from The Maple Blues Awards, (Toronto Blues Society)
Harpdog Brown has been on the scene for over 35 years, hammering it on the road racking up thousands of miles per year with no sign of slowing down. Some consider him somewhat of a blues evangelist, due to the truth in his words on and off stage. “It’s all about the truth” says Harpdog Brown, when asked what draws him to the stage, the road and the blues.
Browns’ last album “What It Is” has also been nominated for best blues recording of the year by the WCMA and landed in the top 100 blues albums in the world at #32. Side note; there are only seven Canadians in that top 100 and Harpdog is second from the top.
In this day and age there are many self-proclaimed blues bands, but Harpdog Brown truly is the blues. He has a sound you can’t buy; it’s something from deep within that come out like a fire on a mountain. With his new combo Harpdog Brown and the Travelin’ Blues Show, he is really laying down the early 1950s sound Chess Records from Chicago made their bread recording over the years, and he continues traveling across the land and into farther regions looking to convert those who have not yet experienced the honesty that blues truly is.
